Reclamation of Ohio Coal Mine Sites Using FGD Byproducts: Phase II Demonstration Projects
The goal of this work is to promote
the high-volume beneficial use of Ohio FGD by-products in the
reclamation of abandoned and active Ohio coal surface mine sites.
The focus of this project is the beneficial use of FGD gypsum and
stabilized sulfite FGD material at coal mine sites in the
vicinity (within 15 miles) of Ohio FGD generating stations.

Coal Remining: Review of Duck Creek Watershed and
Remining's Role in Mitigating Impacts from Pre-law Legacy Mining
in Ohio
In order to document and advance remining of Ohio coal in conjunction with reclamation of abandoned mined lands, OSU has undertaken this Phase I research effort which couples a preliminary assessment of remining activities in Duck Creek watershed and working with DMRM established Remining Task Force to assist with program development and implementation.

Coal Combustion Products Extension Program
The goal of this work is to increase
the annual utilization tonnage of Ohio Coal Combustion Products
(CCPs) from 3 million tons per year in 2008 to about 5.6 million
tons by 2012, i.e. increase Ohio utilization rates from current
30% rate to 35% by 2012 despite a projected 60% increase in the
annual production of CCPs.
